January 7, 2020

For the 22nd consecutive year, the Rady JCC is thrilled to present Music ‘N’ Mavens – well documented as Winnipeg’s foremost daytime concert and speaker series. Once again Music ‘N’ Mavens will feature performers and speakers every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon (2:00 – 3:00 pm) beginning next Tuesday (January 14) and running till March 12 at the Rady Jewish Community Centre located at 123 Doncaster Street.

“The Rady JCC is delighted to showcase Music ‘N’ Mavens’ enlightening and engaging speakers and acclaimed musicians at one of the most culturally rich programs in Winnipeg.  This diverse series brings together inspiring and immersive performances and lectures to audiences of all backgrounds”, shared Tamar Barr, Rady JCC Assistant Executive Director.

Certain local musicians will be given a chance to shine. Local bass player Gilles Fournier will be making three appearances this year, including the opening concert; An Afternoon with Jennifer Hanson on January 14. Fournier will be featured in the Onna Lou Quartet (February 25) as well as the Gilles Fournier Quintet Celebrates Aretha Franklin (February 27).

The lineup for 2020 features a total of 12 musical performances while the lecture component of Music ‘N’ Mavens features informative topics such as From the 1970s to Today – through the Lens of a Photographer with John Paskievich (January 16) to Beethoven Forever with James Manishen (March 10).

“The 2020 season of Music ’N’ Mavens will channel a 60s and 70s vibe with tributes to the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, and the Mamas and Papas.  But we will still cover all the genres! Roots, classical, Latin, folk – you name it! Join us for another season of stimulating speakers and the best music Winnipeg has to offer,” says Karla Berbrayer, Founding Producer, Music ’N’ Mavens.
