The Rady Jewish Community Centre is pleased to announce three-time MVP and World Series champion Alex Rodriguez, as its keynote speaker for the 47th Annual Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner taking place on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the RBC Convention Centre.
“We are beyond excited to have a first class athlete and person such as Alex Rodriguez coming to Winnipeg and be our keynote speaker. This year the Rady JCC (YMHA) will celebrate its 100th Anniversary and we feel privileged to have a person like Alex joining us in our special year” commented Sports Dinner Chair, Blair Worb.
Rodriguez finished his illustrious 22 year career with an extraordinary 696 home runs (4th on the all-time career home run list) and is one of only 29 players to join the illustrious 3,000 hit club. He is also a 14 time all-star and has hit more grand slams than any person in history.
Rodriguez also maintains an active sports, television and media presence. He is currently signed with three major television networks, including Fox, ABC and CNBC. Notably, he joined Fox Sports as a MLB analyst in 2015 and became an Emmy award-winning baseball commentator within two years. He has also appeared as a collaborator on ABC’s Good Morning America and Nightline as well as serving as a guest on Shark Tank.
Away from baseball, Rodriguez is actively involved in several charitable initiatives. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade, is a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Miami, and remains actively involved with Florida International University. In 2003 he donated over three million dollars to the University of Miami to renovate their baseball stadium. Rodriguez is very passionate about education and has sponsored college tuition for over 30 students via his scholarship program.
The evening includes a fabulous four course gala dinner, silent, live and rainbow auctions plus so much more.
The event raises funds each year to support programming at the Rady JCC’s community service efforts, notably camperships for under privileged children, scholarships and subsidies for families in need, and seniors and special needs programming.
The Rady JCC strives to build and sustain an enriched, caring and connected community ensuring a vibrant future in Winnipeg. Its mission as a non-profit community agency is focused on providing a broad range of programs and services for all age groups to meet the diverse needs of members, the Jewish community and the community-at-large.
