Music ‘N’ Mavens Ready to Celebrate 25 Years Next Month

December 22, 2022

Music ‘N’ Mavens, Winnipeg’s foremost afternoon concert and speaker series, celebrates its 25th anniversary when the 2023 edition kicks off in January next month.

The 25th edition of the beloved series features a total of 20 performers and speakers every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning January 19 and running until March 23. All programs will be at the Rady JCC, located at 123 Doncaster Street in Winnipeg.

“Our longstanding series brings together people and performers from all different backgrounds to experience the best there is in music, current events, and specialty presentations,” said Laura Marjovsky, Director of Programming at the Rady JCC.

The 2023 series kicks off with Paul Samyn, Editor of the Winnipeg Free Press, and his discussion, An Insider’s View on the History of the Winnipeg Free Press.

“The lineup this year is one of the most diverse collections we’ve ever had,” added Marjovsky. “Our speakers will be engaging and our concerts will get people out of their seats and dancing in the aisles.”

Music lovers will not have to wait long as Music ‘N’ Mavens’ first concert debuts on Tuesday, January 24, with Central Sound Wave, a duo comprised of Jeremy Koz (Indian City, Ron Paley Band) and Derrick Gottfried (Harlequin, Doc Walker), rocking the stage with Popular Songs from the 70’s to Today.

“Music ‘N’ Mavens occupies a large space in the cultural fabric of Winnipeg,” said Karla Berbrayer, Producer of Music ‘N’ Mavens. “Patrons and performers alike eagerly await the start of each season. I truly cannot believe we are celebrating 25 years.”

The 2023 series closes out on Thursday, March 23, with The Sadler Sisters performing their concert Hits from the 60’s and 70’s Reimagined.

Full and mini concert passes are available as well as individual concert tickets and can be purchased online by clicking here. For all speaker presentations, donations of any amount are welcome at the door.
