WINNIPEG, MB – Records are meant to be broken.

The 48th Annual Rady JCC Ken Kronson Sports Dinner took place on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. A sold-out crowd of over 1,200 business and community leaders came out to hear from three-time Super Bowl Champion and all-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith as well as honour local community volunteers and philanthropists Carol and Neil Duboff.

“After being on hiatus since 2019 and with the lingering pandemic, we were not sure what to expect,” said Al Greenberg, Chair of the Sports Dinner Committee. “To say that we are thrilled with our results would be a huge understatement.”

The results being that this dinner would prove to be the most financially successful event in its 48-year history, raising $400,000 after all bills were paid.

“It’s critical to remember why we put this dinner on year-after-year,” said Greenberg.

Every single dollar raised at the Sports Dinner supports Rady’s various initiatives, a not-for-profit community agency providing recreational, cultural, and fitness programs for all age groups to meet the diverse needs of the community-at-large.

“Rady’s reach into the community – not just the Jewish community, but the greater community – is enormous,” said Greenberg. “The more dollars we are able to raise, the greater the impact we can have on the lives of so many people. That’s why we do it.”

The Rady is non-religious and non-denominational and are open to all. Through its programs and camps, the Rady reaches 3,200 children a year, helping them to stay active and develop leadership skills. The Rady provides programming for children with disabilities, as well as programming that promotes the wellbeing of people living with chronic illnesses or recovering from cancer.

“Our Co-Title Sponsors, Michael Silver and Jason Bonneteau of W.P.G. Wealth Planning Group and Paul Winestock and Danny Childerhouse of Winestock Wealth Management of RBC Dominion Securities, came on board without hesitation early on,” said Greenberg. “Their leadership throughout everything set the tone for all of us to follow leading up to the incredible night.”

Well over 100 different corporate partners, individual attendees, and donors ensured the 2022 dinner would be record-breaking.

“According to Emmitt Smith, your attitude determines your altitude,” Greenberg said.

“And thanks to all our supporters’ attitudes, we are soaring.”
