Temporary Changes & Rules Coming to the Rady

August 25, 2021

As we inch closer to the fall season, there are a number of temporary changes and additional amenities coming to the Rady that you should be aware of. Please take the time to review everything before your next visit.

Updated Mask Policy

Yesterday, the provincial government announced that masks will become mandatory once again in all indoor public spaces. While they did not give an official date as to when this will take effect, beginning Thursday, August 25, masks will once again be mandatory while at the Rady JCC. This includes in locker rooms, on the pool deck, and on the fitness floor. Members with underlying health conditions or who may be concerned about mask-wearing medical risks should refrain from strenuous exercises while at the Rady. Masks must be worn properly.

Temporary Pool Closure

Beginning Saturday, September 4, until Monday, September 27, the pool will be closed for critical unforeseen maintenance.

Recently, the underwater paint throughout the lap and leisure pools have started flaking off, becoming sharp and dangerous. Not only is this a risk to swimmers and pool users, but further erosion could also lead to extremely serious long-term issues and closures. While we estimate this project taking no more than three weeks, we may be able to reopen the pool sooner depending on how repairs progress.

Updated Fall Hours

Effective Thursday, September 9, the Rady JCC will expand it regular hours of operation. Our hours will be as follows:

  • Mondays through Thursdays
    6:00 a.m – 9:00 p.m.
  • Fridays
    6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m
  • Saturdays and Sundays
    8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

As a reminder, all lockers in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms are available for use as well as showers. Family changerooms continue to be available exclusively for those using our pool.

Men’s and women’s steam rooms as well as towel service will once again be available at this time.

Finally, we do ask that if you are feeling ill or exhibiting any flu-like symptoms, please stay home.

Warm regards,

Rob Berkowits
