Earlier today, the Manitoba government announced the gradual easing of provincial restrictions, some of which directly affect the Rady JCC. With that in mind, beginning this Friday, March 5, at 6:00 a.m., we will be implementing various changes at our facility.
Please note that safety is always of our top priority. Every decision made regarding any changes has been through the lens of the health and safety of our members, staff, and volunteers.
Beginning Friday, our men’s and women’s locker rooms will reopen with physical distancing measures in effect including a maximum of two people per locker room bay at any given time and a maximum of 25 people in a locker room at once. To assist you, there will be clearly marked lockers that will be available for your use.
A select number of our showers will once again be available for use in both locker rooms. We ask that you refrain from shaving, brushing your teeth, or blowing your hair in either of our locker rooms right now. Please limit your total time in the locker rooms to fifteen minutes before and after your workout.
In terms of our pool, we are exploring the possibility of reopening our aquatics facility with limited capacity this month. We are currently looking at the logistics to be able to do so safely and will let you know if and when this will be and what amenities will be made available in a subsequent communication.
Please note that beginning this month, all Rady members are being charged once again for their memberships. Rady members were not charged for the second half of February once we reopened our doors. If you wish to freeze your membership and pay the $15 per month freeze fee moving forward, you will need to contact us at 204.477.7510.
If you do wish to freeze your membership, we do ask that you instead kindly consider turning your monthly dues into donations for full tax receipts to assist us as we continue to navigate through these trying times. Members who pay their freeze fees or who make donations will receive full access to our Rady@Home virtual group fitness platform.
Finally, the provincial government announced that later this month, they are considering implementing relaxed restrictions on mask wearing while engaging in strenuous exercise. As you are aware, our current Rady policy on mask wearing is that masks must be always worn while at the Rady JCC, both in the locker rooms and on the fitness floor. This is also currently mandated by the provincial government. With that said, we are inviting our Rady members to complete a short survey on mask wearing moving forward. Your input will help us as we make our decision with our mask policy should restrictions change.
