New Restrictions at Rady as Winnipeg Moves to Code Red

October 30, 2020

Good afternoon Rady Friends,

Earlier today, the provincial government moved the Winnipeg area to the red level of Manitoba’s pandemic response system. As a result, effective Monday, November 2, new restrictions will be in place here at the Rady JCC as mandated by the province. These will include the following:

Fitness floor restrictions:

Group fitness restrictions:

  • All Group fitness classes in our main studio and cycle studio will be cancelled until further notice

Sports and recreation activities restrictions:

  • Sports and recreation activities including basketball and doubles pickleball and badminton will be cancelled until further notice – One-on-one pickleball and badminton will be permitted
  • Private and semi-private badminton lessons will continue to operate

Aquatic facility restrictions:

  • Lap swimming will continue to operate as it has always been done
  • We will absolutely not allow double lap swim bookings anymore no matter the individual situation
  • All premium swim programs will continue to operate in reduced capacity including aquafit
  • Effective immediately, we are postponing the last week of the second session currently running and will be freezing registrations for November’s third session of swimming lessons

As mandated by the province earlier today, effective Monday, masks will now be mandatory at all times while at the Rady JCC. This includes at all times while in locker rooms and on the fitness floor. We recommend to those members who have underlying health conditions or who may be concerned about mask-wearing medical risks to refrain from strenuous exercises at this time while at the Rady.

As you know, everything we do here at the Rady is done with well-being of our members, staff, and volunteers top of mind. These temporary changes are in effect for your safety and the safety of those around you.

We will continue to update you regularly as we receive more information.

Warm regards,

Rob Berkowits
Executive Director
Rady JCC
