|Dear Rady JCC Friends,
Day one is officially underway!
On my drive into Rady this morning, I had the feeling like I was on my way to the first day of school. You remember that feeling, don’t you? Eagerness mixed with a little bit of nervousness.
Then, I took a breath and smiled, knowing we were extremely prepared for our reopening and the proper physical distancing and safety measures were in place. That’s when the excitement started to kick in. Excitement for our members to return; excitement to hear the clangs of weights on the fitness floor once more; excitement to see waves in our pool again.
Excitement for this next chapter.
As you know, we have set our total fitness floor capacity to 70 people at any given time based on mandated provincial government restrictions. The last thing we want is for you to come here and find out that you cannot enter.
To help with this, today we launched our Live Rady Fitness Centre Capacity Counter. This counter, updated every two hours during our regular hours of operation, will tell you what percentage of total capacity we currently sit at. It can be found on our website’s homepage as well as on our Facebook page. This is one more thing we are doing to assist you as you make your return.
Before I go, I want to share with you a testimonial from one of our Rady members. Valli Marcoe has been a full-time Rady member for almost 11 years.
Valli told us this about her first experience back at the Rady today:
“I gave the idea of me returning to Rady a lot of consideration. I needed to ensure that it was going to be safe. This morning, I arrived at about 8:30. I have been receiving the communications throughout the pandemic, so I knew to bring my water and wear a waist pack for my personal items. I was prepared.
“The process for entering was clearly defined and extremely smooth. Once I was on the fitness floor, I noticed right away how clean and spaced out everything was. Staff were also cleaning machines throughout my workout and were very respectful to everyone on the floor.
“I have to say that I really feel like the Rady did excellent planning for this day. I saw how they thought about everything. Now that I have seen this, I have no hesitations to come back and start my normal routine at the Rady again. It’s good to be back.”
Thank you, Valli, for you kind words.
And thank you to all our members – those who’ve decided to return today as well as those who are taking a little bit more time before they are comfortable to return. Whether it’s this week or two months from now – we will see you soon.
Now, who’s excited for tomorrow?
