For 47 years Ernie has volunteered his time as the Marketing and Media Relations Chairperson for the annual YMHA/Rady JCC Sports Dinner. Due to Ernie’s passion and hard work the dinner has raised in excess of $12 million for children’s and senior citizens programming as well as summer camp programs for less advantaged children.

Ernie was a long time sportscaster with CBC Winnipeg for 26 years before retirement in 1992. He played a big role in assisting with the preparation of the successful bid for Winnipeg to host the 1999 Pan American Games as well lending his expertise to Sam Katz in bringing professional baseball back to Winnipeg.

Also taking his place in the Ernie Nairn Media Wing was  Harvey Rosen

Harvey was a junior high school teacher for 33 years but in his “spare time” he also was a long time sports writer for the Jewish Post and News. His passion every week highlighted and featured not only professional athletes but also Jewish athletes from across North America in a variety of sports.

Harvey’s column in the Jewish Post caught the eye of the editor at the Canadian Press, which hired Harvey as its Winnipeg reporter. He spend many years covering the “new and old Winnipeg Jets, and the Manitoba Moose hockey teams until his recent retirement last year.

Mazel Tov and Thank You to Ernie and Harvey for everything you have done.
