THANK YOU!
Thank you to all the donors, sponsors, volunteers, committee members and of course attendees for making the Nostalgia Weekend a huge success.
It was a very memorable weekend beginning with Friday’s Shabbat Dinner followed by a Y Days Canteen Dance on Saturday and wrapping up on Sunday with a delicious brunch.
We are grateful that everyone took the time to help us celebrate and look back on 100 years.
Stay tuned for pictures, videos and memories in the coming days from the weekend.

Special Message from Randy Bachman
“I have great memories of the Y in Winnipeg. All my friends in West Kildonan were Jewish. I lived on a poor street but most of them lived on the nicer ones. One of my good friends was Hart Chisick and his cousin Bobby Zimmerman would come to visit (Bob Dylan). Weekends were great at the YMHA. There would be swimming in the afternoon, then great meals that were very cheap, usually corned beef and a coke. I was always accepted and had so many true friends there. It was a real community of support.
In the evenings, there were dances with all kinds of great bands like Mickey Brown and the Velvetones and The Triads, which was doo-wap. Len Cariou sang with them and later went on to become an actor. He is the godfather on the Cop show BlueBloods, which I love. I hoped to one day play there and I did, with The Jury and other musicians.
The YMHA has a happy and vibrant history. It holds a special place in my heart.
Enjoy the nostalgia weekend, everyone!”
