Tarbut: Festival of Jewish Culture will play host to a special night on Thursday, Nov. 23.
The world is celebrating the 100th birthday of the great American composer, conductor, educator, musician, cultural ambassador and humanitarian Leonard Bernstein – and we’ll do the same here at the Rady JCC here in Winnipeg with a night of tribute!
Born in Massachusetts, Bernstein’s love affair with Europe and his sensitivity to his Russian and Jewish roots were never far from his lyrical expressiveness.
Led by saxophonist Jon Gordon, and featuring Derrick Gardner, trumpet, Kyle Zavitz, piano, Julian Bradford, bass, Ethan Ardelli, drums, Miona Milovanovic, violin, Bery Filsaime, cello, Erin Propp, Aaron Hutton, and Julie Lumsden on vocals, this band of Winnipeg all-stars is sure to entertain.
Expect to hear excerpts from West Side Story, On the Waterfront, New York, New York, as well as other well-known Bernstein favourites.
