The Rady JCC and Winnipeg Jewish Theatre have joined forces to bring acting classes to the Asper Campus! Experience the fun and supportive environment conducive to learning, playing, and growing as an actor under the guidance of skilled professional actors.
Acting for Adults:
If you took a drama class back in high school or university or always wanted to but never got around to it, this class the perfect place to get back on the horse (or on the horse for the first time!). Make new friends while you boost your confidence and get outside of your comfort zone. Students will work on core acting skills such as improvisation, movement, and scene work.
Instructor – Harry Nelken
Mr. Nelken is a Winnipegger who has been acting professionally for more than forty years in both theatre and film.
He has performed with all the major Winnipeg theatres. Out of town he has worked at the Stratford. Festival, NAC, Citadel, Theatre Calgary, Persephone, Magnus Theatre, Theatre Sudbury, and Chemainus.
Some favourite roles: Shylock, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Levine (Glengarry Glen Ross), Etgar (Birds of a Kind), Stem (Eureka!) Mendel (Narrow Bridge)
Mr. Nelken has two grown daughters, and he shares his life with his beloved Cynthia and their two Conure parrots, Mischief and Nimble.
