Here at Rady, Your Continued Safety is Our Priority

April 26, 2021

Dear Rady JCC Friends,

Here at Rady, your safety is paramount.

When you come here, your focus should be on your workout. You shouldn’t have to worry about anything else. I can say again today that you are protected while at the facility you’ve come to love and trust.

With this said, earlier this afternoon the Government of Manitoba announced increased health and safety restrictions for gym facilities. While we can remain open, we want to share with you once again the temporary measures we have in effect.

We continue to be able to be in operation at a 25% maximum capacity on our fitness centre floor. We have set our maximum capacity to 55 people total at one time. You can check our current fitness centre capacity on our live capacity count tracker, updated every 30 minutes, by clicking here.

Even though we do not require advanced bookings to enter our facility, we ask that you kindly limit your workouts to 90 minutes in consideration of others. While we do not anticipate this occurring, you may be asked to wait if we are at maximum capacity. We also ask that you do not come to work out with people outside of your household.

While on the fitness floor, you are required to always maintain a distance of three (3) metres from other members. Please do not congregate with others while working out. Our Rady staff will be monitoring this at all times in order to ensure this rule is followed. Members who fail to follow this restriction may be asked to leave.

Masks are required at all times while at the Rady JCC. This includes walking in, walking out, in the locker rooms, and while using the fitness facility. Masks are also required while on the pool deck. Please be sure to wear your masks properly. Masks are optional while in the pool.

Please note our other temporary measures in effect:

Pre-screen at check-in:

  • You will continue to be pre-screened in order to gain entry into our facility.
  • As a reminder, you will be asked:
    • if you have travelled in the last 14 days.
    • if you have been in contact with someone confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
    • if you have any of the following: fever or chills, new cough or increase in the amount of coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, headache or unusual headache, or sore muscles not related to overexertion or exercise.
  • Your temperature will be taken with a non-contact temperature gun and will be denied entry if above normal.

Limited access to certain areas/machines:

  • Both the men’s and the women’s locker rooms remain open – there is a limit of one (1) member per locker room bay at any given time.
  • Members are reminded to limit their time in the changerooms to 15 minutes.
  • The family change room is open specifically for individuals using the pool only and will be limited to a maximum of two (2) family pods at any given time.
  • Rady towel service continues to not be available at this time.
  • Rady steam rooms continue to be closed until further notice.
  • In order to practice proper physical distancing, certain exercise equipment and machines are blocked off from use.
  • Our jogging lane will not be available.

We continue to have heightened cleaning/personal sanitization procedures:

  • We continue to regularly clean all areas of the fitness and aquatic facility on a set schedule – some areas may be cordoned off during these times.
  • We require members to clean any equipment before and after personal use using available sanitization sprays and wipes.
  • We require members to use the available hand sanitization stations set up at the facility entry and throughout our facility.

In terms of our aquatics facility, please note the following:

  • Beginning Wednesday, April 28, only three (3) lap swimming lanes will be available in order to maintain three metres’ distancing at all times.
  • Some lap swim times may be unavailable due to other programs/activities.
  • Some swimming lessons may be cancelled if maintaining three (3) metres’ distancing cannot be done – we will be sending out a direct communication if you are affected by this.

We will continue to update www.radyjcc.com with future information pertaining to our temporary restrictions.

Stay safe and be well,

Rob Berkowits
