A Welcome Breath

February 19, 2021

Good afternoon Rady Friends,

Do you ever stop for a moment and breathe? It’s amazing what this can do for your overall outlook and mindset.

Breathe in, breathe out.

As you know, this past Tuesday we reopened our doors to our fitness centre with temporary hours and safety measures in effect. Our pool remains closed right now as mandated by the provincial government. Just over 48 hours since we welcomed you home, I must remind myself to pause and breathe as things continue to change so quickly.

Every decision we have made and continue to make regarding our centre is done so with the safety and wellbeing of our members, staff, and volunteers top-of-mind. With that said, I want you to be aware of some of the temporary measures we have in effect due to provincially mandated limitations.

To begin with, masks must be worn at all times while visiting the Asper Campus as well as the Rady JCC including while on the fitness floor. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule. For Members with health conditions, we kindly ask that you refrain from strenuous activities at this time.

Breathe in…

We are currently operating at 25% capacity which translates to a maximum of 45 people at a given time on our fitness floor. Please refer to our live capacity count tracker by clicking here to see what our capacity is currently at prior to your arrival. We update it every half hour. We kindly ask that Members keep their workouts to a maximum of 75 minutes in order to ensure opportunities for all who wish to exercise.

Please note that, just as we did the first time when we reopened our doors, you will be pre-screened and your temperature will be taken with a temperature gun prior to being admitted to our fitness centre. You will also be required to be manually scanned out when you leave. This may cause a bit of a delay when you are arriving or leaving if there are others arriving or leaving at the same time. We ask that you have patience as we work to ensure the safety of our facility.

As per the current provincial government mandate, our locker rooms and showers are temporarily closed to the public as is our family changeroom. Washrooms are still available. We have brought in additional boot and coat racks for your outdoor footwear and coats. Racks are located at the base of the stairway going up to our fitness facility. We also have racks stationed the top of the staircase for gym bags.

…breathe out.

Finally, we are currently not offering any group in-person fitness classes, but we continue to offer virtual fitness classes through our Rady-at-Home platform. We have a variety of different types of engaging sessions taught by our Rady trainers and instructors available. To learn more about Rady-at-Home, click here.

As we push forward into our second week, we will continue to reassess everything and make any possible adjustments to ensure a top-notch experience while here at the Rady. This is our promise to you.

And above all else, please remember to breathe as we all work at this together.

I feel better, how about you?
