The Rady Jewish Community Centre honoured its 7th Annual Ken H. Kronson Kehilla Award winners at its Annual General Meeting held on December 13, 2018.
The Ken H. Kronson Kehilla Awards recognize the outstanding effort of those who volunteer at the Rady JCC. It is named in honour of Ken Kronson, who for 40 years served as chairperson for the annual Rady JCC’ – YMHA Sports Dinner.
A special Mazel Tov to the 2018 Ken. H. Kronson Kehilla Award Winners:
Active Living – Judy Schmidt
Judy has been active at the Rady Centre for the past 10 years. When an event comes up that requires volunteers, she is one of the first people to offer to help in any way she could. She is always happy to help and also giving us ideas of how to do better.
Cultural Arts – Karen Grant
Karen has volunteered for three years for a variety of cultural arts events such as the Tarbut Festival, Jewish Film Festival, Izzy Asper Jazz Performances, and the Israel Pavilion. She always greets everybody with a big smile, provides excellent customer service and is very committed to the Rady JCC.
Early Learning – Miriam Bronstein
Miriam volunteers at the child care centre bringing her passion and enthusiasm for music to the children every week. Each week Miriam brings a variety songs, dances and instrument techniques. Miriam is a baba to her two grandchildren who attend at the centre, but all the children call her baba affectionately.
Engagement – Alexandra Broitman
Alexandra has been instrumental in the Rady JCC’s engagement program providing ideas and insight since we launched a couple of years ago. She is an active member of the Jewish Life and Community Programs Committee and is an active attendee at Rady JCC programs and events.
Finance – Sharon Stokoloff
Our Kehilla Volunteer Award from Finance this year is Sharon Stokoloff.   Sharon has been involved with Folklorama for the last 40 years.  She has been Finance Chairof the Pavillion since the 90’s.  Sharon is a tremendous volunteer for Folklorama and a great assistance to the Rady Finance department in her role.
Fitness – Marvin Ben-Ari
Marvin is a long time member and racquet sport enthusiast. He’s actively recruited other members to come play noon hour badminton and Pickleball and helped make new players feel welcome. Marvin has also been the social coordinator, often organizing post game lunches for the group.
Folklorama – Duane Dahl
Duane has been a great volunteer for the Israel Pavilion – Shalom Square for the past nine years. He has never missed a year since he started and always comes with a smile and willing to help out where ever needed. In addition, Duane has been a volunteer at the Rady Water Station for the Manitoba Marathon.
Senior – Cathy Lovatt
Cathy has been a volunteer for the Minds in Motion program for the past two years.  Without her coming every week, this program would not be able to be as successful as it is.  Cathy is committed to supporting people living with Alzheimer’s and their families.
Senior -  Kathy Leibl
Kathy has been volunteering for Minds in Motion for the past two years.  She has been an enormous help with the program and without volunteers like her, the program would not be as successful as it is. She loves to be a part of the Minds in Motion program as she enjoys interacting with all the participants.
Sports Dinner – Leilani Kagan
Leilani has been a longstanding member of the Sports Dinner Committee and the Auction Committee.   Her contribution to the Sports Dinner through her efforts on the Auction Committee and with corporate sponsorships played a critical role in making the Dinner the success it is.
Youth – Jaron Rykiss
Jaron Rykiss is a grade 12 student at the Gray Academy of Jewish Education. He has been a Rady JCC community volunteer since grade 9, where he played a leadership role at the chapter, regional and international levels. Jaron’s continued dedication to BBYO and the Rady JCC shines through in everything he does.
